Psic.Lua Calliope
Clinical Psychologist and Psychoanalyst
Hello! I am a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst specialized in the comprehensive support of trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming people. Likewise, I am dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of clinical depression and anxiety.
My educational background...
Originally from Mexico. I graduated from the Faculty of Psychology of the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos (UAEMor) in 2016, graduating with honorable mention.
The year before finishing my studies, I completed an academic stay at the Faculty of Psychology of the National University of Córdoba in Argentina, where I delved into Community Intervention Strategies and two French psychoanalytic models to analyze mental health in organizational contexts: Clínicas del Work and Activity Clinics.
During my undergraduate training I also focused my experience on clinical work in educational contexts, providing psycho-pedagogical and psychological guidance at the Faculty of Human Communication and the Faculty of Arts of the UAEMor and at the Institute of Renewable Energy of the UNAM.
I am currently in the last semester of the Master's Degree in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the Intercontinental University (UIC) in Mexico City.
My professional experience...
In February 2017 I started my job as Head of the Psychological Care Unit at the UNAM Genomic Sciences Center, Morelos Campus. Providing psychological guidance to undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral students, especially people at psychosocial risk, experiencing problems of depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation.
During this time I was part of the Center's Internal Commission for Gender Equality, developing and implementing strategies for raising awareness and training the academic population on gender and diversity issues.
During the five years that I worked at the Center, I provided psychological care to more than 70% of the curricula enrolled in the Bachelor of Genomic Sciences program due to the high incidence of mental health problems among its students.
Likewise, under my coordination, the Bachelor's program in Genomic Sciences obtained the highest recognition in educational quality certification before the Interinstitutional Committees for the Evaluation of Higher Education (CIEES)
My current...
In March 2022, I resigned from the Center to dedicate myself to private practice and comprehensive psychotherapeutic work with patients in their gender transition through TRANSSALUD, an initiative with which I collaborate to date.
I am currently dedicated to private practice, practicing psychology in accordance with the ethical standards established by the Mexican Society of Psychology. At the same time, I practice psychoanalysis from a relational and dissident approach , complying with the bases of the Berlin tripartite model.
Person...
Transgender woman, 32 years old, Mexican.
With many fears and insecurities
The fairy godmother who never came
Since I was 4 years old I have the memory of waiting for a fairy godmother to come down through my window and, with the tap of her wand, correct the mistake that someone had clearly made. I waited for years for it to arrive, even in my early adulthood I preserved the childhood fantasy that it would come, perhaps in the form of a whisper, to give me the certainty that I was who I was, to give me permission to begin my transition...
But, the fairy never came, nor did the certainty or permission of a third party, I had to give myself permission...
Victim of those who profit from the community
At the beginning of my transition I was a victim of highly trained professionals in endocrinology, psychology, psychiatry and plastic surgery, but with few ethical standards in the exercise of their profession. The goal was not to assist or guide my gender transition but to squeeze out what could be squeezed out.
Among a sea of anguish I decided to start my process. My mother asked, "Are you sure it's not a stage?" After many years I was able to answer not only the question, but also the unfairness of it. It wasn't a stage, but I was afraid, afraid of making mistakes, of regretting it, afraid that my identity was just a phase.
You're going to be alone...
At the beginning of my transition I thought that no one was going to love me, and, unfortunately, my first couple experiences seemed to confirm that idea. It took me a lot of work to see the value of my person, to build my sense of dignity, I stopped believing that the only relationships I deserved had to happen clandestinely, anonymously and at home. I met a man with whom I decided to spend my life and with whom I adopted a beautiful dog and a very naughty kitten. We deserve relationships in broad daylight, without stigma, without shame, relationships that sustain us.

Julieta Eilin
I turned to Lua when I decided to begin my gender transition and her support has been essential to achieving my goals. At that moment I was a person with a lot of fear and no direction; I couldn't have gotten to where I am without her. It's everything I was looking for in psychotherapy.
